What does the ‘Market closed’ error mean?

Modified on Tue, 3 Dec, 2024 at 10:24 PM

In MT4, the ‘Market closed’ error usually means that the current market trading hours have ended and you cannot open, close or modify orders. This may occur in the following situations:

  1. Non-trading hours:many financial markets are closed during certain periods of time, such as weekends or holidays.

  2. Trading restrictions on certain financial instruments:certain financial instruments may not be available for trading at certain times, or may have trading restrictions during certain time periods.

When you face the ‘Market Closed’ error, you can check the current market trading hours to ensure that you trade during the open hours.

How to check trading hours?

To check the trading hours for a specific instrument, log in to your MT4 account and click the ‘Market Watch’ window. After that, right-click on the desired instrument and select ‘Specifications’.

In a new window you will see the trading hours for the selected instrument. By reviewing this information you can ensure you are trading at the right time.
