Initial Public Offering (IPO) refers to the process where a private company offers shares to the public for the first time, becoming a publicly traded company. Through an IPO, the company can list on a stock exchange and sell shares to public investors to raise capital for purposes such as business expansion, debt repayment, and research and development.
