What are commodities?

Modified on Tue, 3 Dec, 2024 at 10:43 PM

Commodities are large-scale, standardized natural resources or basic goods that can be traded on the global market. They are usually raw materials or primary products with a wide range of uses in the industrial, agricultural and energy sectors. The characteristic of commodities is that they are homogeneous, that is, the quality of similar commodities is basically the same regardless of their origin or supplier, so they can be openly traded on the global market.
